Ron started racing Superkarts in 2002 after a friend introduced him into the sport (Thanks Bazza).
He purchased a new Dino kart and went out for the first time in March 2002. It was a big learning curve and spent more time off the track than on. However in July that year won his first trophy a second place.
A trip to Phillip Island raceway later in 2002 for the Superkart Nationals saw a lot of new competition and a lot more experience gained. Ending the weekend with a 9th place was a great effort and a fun weekend.
2003 wasn't a good year, after Ron was told superkarts with their low centre of gravity and wide wheel base are near impossible to roll, Ron had to prove them wrong, whilst trying to go through turn one at Mallala motor sport park flat out (seemed like a good idea at the time, everyone else said they could do it) he spun and spun and then flipped over and over and over the kart going one way and Ron sliding along the track not too far behind. A broken humorous in three spots, dislocated shoulder and a few cracked ribs later, the worst bit though was not being able to get back out there for a few months.
After both Ron and the kart were all fixed it was time to get out there again. It was a bit of a slow start to get the confidence back however 2004 saw a few race wins (very few) and a couple of overall second place trophies. Late in 2004 Ron decided to upgrade, sold the Dino, still slightly bent, and purchased a top running Viper kart which he still races.
In 2005 with the experience gained and a better kart it was time to get serious. 2005 saw 2 Second place trophies followed by 4 First's from 6 meetings. The Nationals were not contested in 2005.

The luck continued in 2006 with 8 First trophies from 8 meetings, and a 3rd at the Nationals.
Superkart Nationals in 2007
2007 proved just as good with 6 Firsts from 6 meetings and 1st at the Nationals to be proudly running with number 1. 2008 saw Three 1sts, two seconds and one 3rd from 7 races. The luck wasn't at the Nationals this year, 2 blown motors in practice made it difficult, thanks to Keith Jones a 3rd motor was made out of the 2 blown ones. This enabled us to continue however not at the front where we would have liked to be. 2009 again was a good year with Three 1sts and Two seconds from 7 starts. Unfortunately there was no Nationals held in 2009. 2010 Nationals were run at Mallala Motor Sport Park where the competition was getting faster, and younger, however we still managed to pick up a 2nd place. 2011 and 2012 Nationals unfortunately conflicted with the Quad MX meetings so Dad missed out, club meetings still saw great competition, 2013 Nationals are looking good.
Some of the other Trophies include.
